Volunteers sought to register voters at theaters Showing Michael Moore’s “SiCKO”
Volunteers are needed to distribute fliers and register voters outside theaters showing Michael Moore’s new documentary “SiCKO,” which exposes the greed of corporations and insurance companies in creating the escalating healthcare crisis.
Millions of Americans are uninsured and moviegoers will be leaving the theaters asking this burning question: Why is the United States the only industrial country without national healthcare?
In 2004, hundreds of registrants were signed up during the showing of Moore’s previous blockbuster, “Fahrenheit 9/11.” The controversial film showed how the Bush administration used the terrorist attack of 2001 to push its agenda for the war in Iraq.
Jack Robertson, who was among the volunteer registering voters in 2004, recalled how one enraged man emerged from the theater and said: “I want to vote now!”
San Diego theaters will be showing SiCKO beginning Friday, June 29, through July 6.
